The new IMAX banner for "The Hunger Games."

It's not often that you buy movie tickets a month in advance, but not every movie is the most anticipated motion picture this spring: "The Hunger Games."

Tickets for "The Hunger Games" go on sale online at midnight tonight (Tuesday), and they are likely to sell quite well due to the March 23 release date of the movie.

Yes, Tulsa-area students who are looking forward to the movie based on the wildly popular series of books: Opening weekend is during the week of spring break.

Cinemark Theaters confirmed that they will have tickets on sale online at midnight for their theaters. That will be important to some because "The Hunger Games" will also open for one week at Cinemark Tulsa's giant-screen IMAX auditorium.

Those tickets also go on sale beginning tonight, sources said, so if you want to see "The Hunger Games" on IMAX at midnight the night before (midnight on the night of Thursday, March 22) you might want to be ready to purchase those IMAX tickets on Wednesday, if I'm reading the demand for this movie correctly.

Remember, students, the opening is during spring break, so you can make it to that show and sleep the rest of the day -- if you're not seeing the movie a second time.
