The fascination people have with the Titanic has taken some unusual forms, to say the least.
Leave it to Branson, Missouri, to come up with something nobody else would imagine.
First of all, Branson has had on display for the last few years a Titanic exhibit that is a half-scale replica of the ship, that features some 400 artifacts from the actual ship that went down in 1912. These objects are on loan from a company called Premiere Exhibitions, which has been sending Titanic related exhibits to museums and similar venues around the world.
One of these shows was at the Oklahoma City Omniplex several years ago, and it was quite effective at giving one a sense of the enormity of the ship and its tragic end.
The Branson exhibit, from what we can ascertain (it's been years since I've visited Branson), replicates a lot of that exhibit. But on Friday, the exhibit will welcome aboard two King Charles Spaniels, named Molly and Carter, who will be (according to the press release) "part of the world’s first tribute to the dogs onboard the Titanic.
"Now, each day at noon, visitors to the Titanic will be entertained by Molly and Carter as they come down the walkway and enter into the museum. You can hear true dog tales about the First Class canines and learn their owners’ fascinating stories. It is an educational program for young people about how to care for their pets, as well."
I really have nothing to add to that.
