Oklahoma country star Toby Keith will headline a new Kansas City festival with Luke Bryan in September.

The inaugural Flatlands Country Music Festival at Sporting Park will run Sept. 12-14 in Kansas City, Kansas, organizers announced. Capacity is 24,000.

"When we were first approached to help create a new country music festival in Kansas City, we were blown away by the stadium and the potential for this market," said Rand Levy of Marquee, who is promoting the event. "We're very confident both the artists and our audience
will have an incredible experience at Flatlands."

Bryan, named Favorite Male Country Artist at the 2012 American Music Awards, will headline on Sept. 13. Reigning Billboard Country Artist of
the Decade Keith will be the featured performer the following night.

Additional artists confirmed include Thompson Square, Darius Rucker, Rodney Atkins, Love and Theft, Kevin Fowler and J.T. Hodges.

Plus, the Charlie Daniels Band will headline a free concert on Sept. 12 in the Sprint Plaza, an area directly adjacent to the stadium bowl.

Tickets start at $99, and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday. Camping and parking passes also will be for sale. For more information, please visit FlatlandsFestival.com or call 800-493-3378.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
