Toby Keith says he'd rather have a root canal than attend CMA Awards show

Toby Keith
isn't going to the
Country Music Association Awards
show on Nov. 1 in Nashville, even though he's nominated for Video of the Year for his hit single "Red Solo Cup."
"Hell no, I ain't showing up. I gotta go get a root canal that day, or something fun," he told
Country Weekly
magazine. No matter that the event is often called "country music's biggest night."
He's won only two of the 27 awards he's been nominated for. This year's nomination was the first since a quartet of nominations way back in 2005. That year, he won Music Video of the Year for "As Good As I Once Was," directed by Michael Salomon. His second award was back in 2001 for Male Vocalist of the Year, according to the official CMA Awards website.
The show airs 7 p.m. Nov. 1 on the ABC network.
... So much for Keith thinking about his fans, who most likely will be watching the show and supporting his nomination.

Awards don't pay the bills...show tickets and music sales is what pays the bills.

That's funny Jenn considering the CMA'S blackballed Toby first for leaving one of the big lable's to start his own.

Hi chief. Indeed that is Toby's opinion on the matter. -- Jen

Barrelhouse Beat
Barrelhouse:
A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.
Beat:
The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.
About me:
I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
