Rundgren launched his career in the 1960s working with bands Woody's Truck Stop and Naz. His soon moved on to create solo works and worked production stints with The Band, XTC, Badfinger, Grand Funk Railroad, Meat Loaf, Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs and others.
His hits include "Bang the Drum All Day," "Hello It's Me" and "I Saw the Light." A new album, "State," blends electronica with his morphing rock sound and is expected out April 9.
