Actor Tom Hanks paid a loving tribute to his friend at Michael Clarke Duncan's funeral Monday.
The actor, who co-starred with the Oscar-nominated Duncan in "The Green Mile," told a story about how the young Chicago native once joined a gang and what happened when he told his mother Jean Duncan.
Suffice it to say, he was forced to unjoin the gang. It was a story that brought some laughter to the somber situation.
Duncan, 54, died Sept. 3 of respiratory failure after suffering a heart attack two months earlier. He and fiancé Omarosa Manigault, a former contestant on "The Apprentice," planned to marry in December, according to people.com.
The actor's private memorial service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles with family and friends including "The Green Mile" director Frank Darabont, “Bones” stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, his "The Finder" co-star Geoff Stults, singers Angie Stone, Shanice and Kenny Lattimore, Vivica A. Fox and Holly Robinson Peete in attendance, according to tmz.com.
Singer Stevie Wonder sent a video message, according to people.com.
