The Oxford American has released its list of the Best Southern Novels of All Time -- and for once, it's a list that I find little to quibble about, although I'm sure others will find some things about the list objectionable.

I might move "The Moviegoer" a little higher up on the list, but otherwise, it's a solid list of books that you should read if you haven't already.

The fact that it's headed by "Absalom, Absalom!" is, to me, proof enough that the list's compilers have their heads and their hearts in the right place.
