As Bravo's
Top Chef reality series continues to grow, the latest endeavor has some people scratching their chefs caps.
The show, which features chefs cooking with fresh and local ingredients, is now producing
frozen dinners bearing the Top Chef name.According to Broadcasting & Cable's website, Bravo is partnering with ConAgra Foods for their popular Healthy Choice brand dinners. Hmmm.
According to the news release: "The Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Café Steamers will bring consumers frozen entrées with flavorful ingredients such as roasted garlic, asparagus and grilled eggplant."
I'm no snob. I'll admit that I eat a frozen dinner or two, and I never miss an episode of
Top Chef. But this just seems like it's going a little too far into the celebrity branding game. Will a dash of reality TV and a sprinkle of laziness yield a yummy recipe for big bucks? Sorry, had to go there.
Will you try
Top Chef, the frozen dinner?
