Burgers and beer, and a big patio, draw customers to the Blue Rose.

There's not a bad outside seat in the house at the Waterfront Grill in Jenks.

People watching, and good salads like this Italian lox, make for fun al fresco dining at Cosmo Cafe.

We're in those beautiful days, where you can pretend it's 75 degrees year-round.

In these days after a hard summer and before a long winter, we can add an extra half hour to our evening walks, play outside before and after dinner and sit on our front porches with coffee or tea before beginning the day.

We can also grab a table outside for an al fresco dinner. When asked "inside or out," choose out. In a few weeks, we'll be wearing coats.

Here are five places perfect for an outside lunch or dinner.

1. La Villa at Philbrook
There's no prettier setting in Tulsa for lunch or brunch. Behind a backdrop of stunning gardens and the dramatic gazebo, try the fresh menu that includes herbs and vegetables from the garden on the Philbrook grounds.
La Villa at the Philbrook Museum of Art
2727 S. Rockford Road, 918-748-5367

2. Cosmo Cafe
People watching at this Brookside restaurant is one reason Cosmo is so popular. Another reason? The kids' menu is as good as the drinks menu, making it a great place to stop for happy hour or to bring the kids, depending on the day. Good selection of salads, including the chicken and blue cheese and the Italian lox.
3334 S. Peoria Ave., 918-933-4848

3. Waterfront Grill
If you haven't yet made it to this hot spot, put it on your list. The patio is a fun place for happy hour or dinner, and there's not a bad seat in the house. Don't miss the crab, avocado and mango stack.
120 Aquarium Drive, in Jenks, 918-518-6300

4. Blue Rose Cafe
A fun place for a burger and a beer, the Blue Rose hasn't slowed down since opening earlier this year. The Blue Rose Special burger is a good pick, with its fresh blue cheese chunks and crisp bacon.
924 Riverside Drive, 918-582-4600

5. Stonehorse Cafe
Outside tables are at a premium on the small cobbled sidewalk outside the Stonehorse. A changing, seasonal menu means there's always something new to try. The pistachio-crusted halibut is a favorite.
