Tulsa Opera and the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus will each receive special, one-time grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, as part of the federal agency's largesse under American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The NEA received a total of $50 million from the Act -- better known as the "stimulus package" President Obama signed in February -- that it was to distribute in the form of one-time grants to regional and state arts organizations around the country.

The first round of grants, given out in April, went primarily to state arts councils. The Oklahoma Arts Council received a $306,000 grant.

This latest round of grants -- 633 grants totaling more than $29 million -- went to non-profit arts organizations.

Tulsa Opera, which received a $50,000 grant, and Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, which was awarded a grant for $25,000, were the only Oklahoma arts organizations presented with grants.
