Eighties famed rock band Twisted Sister will be headlining Sunday, July 12 at Rocklahoma.

The hair metal music fest is July 9-12 in Pryor, Okla.

Twisted Sister celebrates its 25th anniversary of album "Stay Hungry," which includes rock anthems “We’re Not Going to Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.” This will be the second time the act has been a headliner of the festival, the first time was in 2007.

Frontman Dee Snider said in a related press statement released today, "In every great religion or society there are pilgrimages to be made and homage to be paid. The Islamic have Mecca, the Jews and the Muslims have the Wailing Wall, the Catholics have St. Peter's Basilica, the Irish have the Blarney Stone and so on and so on.

"The ultimate pilgrimage for the old school, metal community is Rocklahoma. Each and every one of us must make the trip and pay homage to the Gods of Metal. Wait a minute ... That's me!"

In addition to Twisted Sister, acts Great White, Nelson, KIX and KEEL will also perform. More bands will be announced in coming weeks.

“This year’s lineup is shaping up again to be a great festival showcasing '80s rock music,” said Dave Giencke, Rocklahoma director of operations, in the press statement.

In 2008, both Playboy and Rolling Stone heralded Rocklahoma as one of the top festivals to see.

Rocklahoma offers a one-day and four-day general admission passes, along with V.I.P. Passes that includes all the food and drink you want for all four days.

The public can also order tickets online at tulsaworld.com/feverfest, or charge by phone at 1-866-310-2288. Tickets can also be purchased at any of the 3,200 O’Reilly Auto Parts across the nation.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
