Feb. 1, 2011: Tim Houchin of Broken Arrow walks up Fourth Street in the snow to work at Brune Law Firm downtown. He later said: "A lot of people have told me, 'You must have a mean boss to make you go to work that day...' Actually, he told me to go home." CHRISTOPHER SMITH/ Tulsa World

Two years after the most snowfall in a 24-hour period, on a calendar date and (eventually) in a single month in Tulsa history, we don't have much more snow to show for it since.

For past articles, photos and videos from the snow event, you can view Tulsa World's page on Blizzard 2011 here.

We also did a one-year anniversary on the blizzard here, including a follow-up with the poor snow walker pictured to the right.

Here's a timetable of every measurable amount of snowfall from that snowstorm (that technically started Jan. 31, 2011) until now:

Jan. 31, 2011: 0.8 of an inch (first part of 24-hour record)

Feb. 1, 2011: 13.2 inches (calendar day record)

Feb. 4, 2011: 3.6 inches

Feb. 8, 2011: 0.5 inches

Feb. 9, 2011: 5.2 inches (last measurable snowfall of record month, 22.5 inches)

March-December 2011: No measurable freezing precipitation.

Jan. 11, 2012: 0.5 of an inch

Feb. 13, 2012: 1.2 inches, which closed Tulsa Public Schools, and some other districts.

March 2012-January 2013: No measurable amount of freezing precipitation

Snowfall in Tulsa stats:

  • Average annual snowfall (1980-2010 30-year average) is 9.6 inches.

  • The snowiest month, on average, is January with 2.7 inches.

  • Tulsa has never (snow records date back to 1950)recorded any snowfall May-September.

  • Tulsa's highest snowfall year was 1958 with 29.6 inches.

Staff Writer Althea Peterson started writing for the Tulsa World in March 2007 after previous stops at the Norman Transcript in 2006 and the Oklahoma Gazette in 2005. She followed her older brother from rural Wisconsin (with a public school that never seemed to call snow days) to the University of Oklahoma, but did not follow his pursuit to study meteorology. However, she tries to find as many opportunities to report on the weather as possible.

Staff Writer Jerry Wofford came to the Tulsa World in 2010 from The Manhattan Mercury in Manhattan, Kan. Originally from western Arkansas and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Jerry has lived in Tornado Alley his entire life and is one of those people who goes outside when the sirens go off.
