UPDATE: Just read on EW that Kutcher handed over his Twitter account to his managers in wake of this latest Twitter scandal.

Ok, I get it. Ashton Kutcher is prettier than he is smart. That's why he's a celebrity -- he was a former model and now a TV star.

But today, he's in some scalding hot water over some very bad Tweeting. Yesterday, he took to his trusty Twitter account to tell his 8 million followers this:

"How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste."

Yes, he defended the firing of Penn State's head football coach Joe Paterno, who was dismissed for his role in how the school handled a sex abuse scandal.

Ill advised on its own, but considering Mr. Two and a Half Men is an advocate for the fight against sex exploitation against children, it was a very, very ignorant Tweet.

When he watched the news -- or more likely, read 140-characters or less on Twitter -- he wised up and Tweeted this: "Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet!Didn't have full story."

Then he deleted both Tweets and apologized: "As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case."

I think Twitter is really fun, and it's a great way for me to get the latest scoop on pop culture for this blog. Plus, I can get into all kinds of conversations with people I'd never normally meet, including celebs (I wish). But I also realize that I work for a newspaper, so I have to watch my Tweetin' typing.

That's why I don't like to engage in any Twitter wars or heated debate with fellow commentors out there -- I'm fortunate enough to put my opinion out there in a newspaper and on a blog, so I get to have my say.

But if you're a truly public person -- namely a celebrity who is an advocate for a cause, or a politician -- you have to keep your impulse control in check.

Do you think Kutcher will get into more trouble over this? What do you think of celebs who Tweet?
