In a new video, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane tells USA Today about getting ready to host the 85th Academy Awards on Sunday.

He said Billy Crystal, a frequent past host of the biggest night in movies, took about an hour of his time to share some do's and don'ts.

"Most of it was very, very helpful," MacFarland says. "It was not a lot of fluff."

Do: "Get comfortable with your shoes before you get out there," the "Ted" creator recalls Crystal telling him.

On wardrobe issues: "I think at the Oscars you have a slightly more down-to-earth, grounded group of people than you do at the Grammys," MacFarland says. "So you don’t really have to tell them not to show up naked."
