If you're wanting to see Carrie Underwood in either one of her two national tours this winter or spring, a road trip might be in order.

Starting in February, Underwood will launch the "Carnival Ride Tour," with special guest Josh Turner. It will intertwine with her concurrent co-headline tour with Keith Urban.

As announced previously, Underwood will also co-headline dates with Keith Urban on the "Love, Pain & the whole crazy Carnival Ride Tour," which kicks off Jan. 31. As for shows, the closest that tour is coming to Oklahoma is Wichita, Kansas, on March 6, at the Kansas Coliseum.

So far, no Oklahoma dates have been announced for either tour. And, as of yet, no dates have been announced in Wichita, Arkansas or Missouri, either, for Underwood's "Carnival Ride" tour. Maybe fans here will get the news they've been hoping for when more tour dates are announced in February.

Underwood is the reigning Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, a two-time Grammy winner, and two-time 2008 Grammy nominee -- and a Checotah, Okla., native.

Joining her as special guest is bass-laden soulful country crooner Turner -- the "Carnival Ride Tour" promises to be quite the show.

"I'm so excited to be hitting the road and doing the full show of my music that I have always dreamed of doing," said Underwood. "I have been so fortunate to learn from so many other great artists while touring with them, and they have inspired me in so many ways."

Underwood's current album "Carnival Ride" has reached double-platinum selling status and contains the 3-week No. 1 smash "So Small." She wrapped 2007 as Billboard's Top Country Artist and Top Country Artist – Female (both based on sales and airplay) and No. 1 among Top Country Album Artists (based on sales).

Outside the country categories, Underwood’s success has transcended to the all-genre Billboard 200 Artist Recap as the No. 1 best-selling female artist of the 2007 chart year. Her debut album, "Some Hearts," sold in excess of 6.1 million copies and is still climbing, and became the best-selling female country debut in history. On the airplay front, the 2007 Year in Music recap from R&R reflects the strength of Underwood’s support at country radio, where she was the year’s No. 1 female artist.

A Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum recording artist, Turner burst onto the scene in 2003 with his debut album "Long Black Train," selling more than a million copies. His follow up disc, "Your Man," has sold more than double that, establishing Turner as one of the fastest rising stars in country music today. His distinctive voice paired with his inspired songwriting makes him one of Nashville’s most notable traditionalists. Turner’s latest album, "Everything Is Fine," was certified gold in five weeks and is powered by the fastest-rising single of his career the self-penned "Firecracker."

The first round of “Carnival Ride Tour” dates go on sale Jan. 12, with more dates to be announced soon.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.
