Valkyrie bar to open June 1 in Brady District

Valkyrie, a bar that will feature classic cocktails, fresh ingredients and draft beers, is scheduled to open June 1 at 13 E. Brady St.

Owners Aaron Post and Tony DeLesDernier said the cocktail menu will change regularly depending on the availability of seasonal ingredients. Fruit juices will be squeezed daily, and other ingredients, such as grenadine, will be made inhouse.

The bar will offer a revolving selection of 14 different draft beers and "quality but affordable wines," according to a news release. A few bar snacks also will be served.

"We want to get the best drink possible into your hand and have fun doing it," DeLesDernier said. "We're serious about our drinks and not much else."

"Downtown is where you want to be with all the new development, and it fits perfectly with the vibe we're establishing," Post said. "Anyone who lives or is visiting downtown can expect a quality cocktail and great time any day of the week at Valkyrie."

Valkyrie is a winged woman in Norse mythology said to usher souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, where they drink and party with Odin for eternity. Not a bad gig.

Valkyrie will be open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week.

Good luck.

Nice niche, making their own grenadine and fruit juices.

As for bar snacks you mean like peanuts, pretzels? Or something more? Maybe nachos, snack plate of luncheon meats/deli meats, cheese and crackers.
From what I understand, just something like chips at the moment.
