Sapulpa Police officer David Jones was voted off "The Biggest Loser" ranch last night on NBC.

Jones, who suffered a knee injury on the show a few weeks ago, was a member of the Blue Team which had not lost any players until last night.

In a disappointing weigh-in in which the weight loss of one contestant from each team determined the night's win, Jones' Blue team finished last and was forced to vote to eliminate one team member. They voted Jones off for both being unable to work out intensely because of his injury and because some thought he would be a potential threat later in the competition.

The 51-year-old Kiefer resident, who weighed in at 307 pounds at the start of the season, showed in a video that he is down to 220 pounds – a weight loss of 87 pounds. He is competing to be the at-home winner of the competition. He was coached by trainer Bob Harper.

"Bob was a real inspiration," said Jones in a new video. "The guy helped saved my life. I owe him for that. A big thank-you to Bob Harper."

Jones, a native of Cherry Point, N.C., was reared in Sapulpa. He is the father of seven children, including one with special needs, and two grandchildren.

An interview with Jones will be featured in Wednesday's Scene section of the Tulsa World.

The series airs at 7 p.m. Mondays on NBC, channel 2, cable 9.

Here he is in an update video aired Monday:

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
