Video: Tulsa actor in Saturday's "Victorious" special

Rod Keller

Tulsa actor Rod Keller appears in Saturday's special one-hour episode of "Victorious" on Nickelodeon at 7 p.m.

The 1990 Metro Christian Academy graduate and former University of Tulsa drama student will have a supporting role in the show that my kids love.

I know enough about the show from it playing in my own home to know that it stars Victoria Justice as an aspiring teen singer who attends a performing arts high school and who winds up in screwball comedy situations in every episode.

In Saturday's one-hour "Tori Goes Platinum," she's chosen to perform the opening song on the Platinum Music Awards. The catch? The show's producer and his team (Rod plays Marshall, a member of that team) wants Victoria to undergo a radical image change.

A video below makes it look like they want her to become the next Lindsay Lohan when it comes to a private life, which she tries to do, comically.

Rod has previously worked in the cable-for-kids arena with the Cartoon Network when he provided the voice for Bucky, sidekick to Captain America, in "The Super Hero Squad Show."

Keller has also appeared in films including "He's Just Not That Into You" and episodes of TV shows including "Dexter" and "Southland" in recent years.

Check out this preview clip from Saturday's 7 p.m. episode of "Victorious" below.

I See Movies for Free

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.

Big winner tonight: producer Harvey Weinstein. "The Artist" wins 5 Oscars, "The Iron Lady" goes 2-for-2, even wins best documentary.
