December second of last year was the last time a new episode of "The Walking Dead" aired, but it seems like years.

(Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the mid-season finale yet)

Here is where we left off:

The Governor went off the deep end after loosing an eye and a zombified daughter at the hands (or blade, rather) of Michonne.

Rick is very near the deep end after loosing his wife and much of his sanity thanks to a haunted boiler room with a magic phone.

The prison has a few new occupants in the form of Tyreese and a bunch of red-shirts.

Glenn and Maggie are rescued, but out for blood.

Carl is turning into a skilled leader/sociopath.

Andrea is freaking out about her horrible taste in men.

Daryl and Merle have been thrown into the Fight Club/Thunder dome (Two men enter, one man leaves!).

Sunday's episode, titled "The Suicide King" promises that Rick and The Governor will actually meet face to face; Merle and Daryl have to finally deal with each other; Tyreese's group will add a new dinamic to life at the prison which may not be a good thing, and a major comic book character will be introduced. Also, lots of gore and serious yet thoughtful looks between cast members.

AMC has a whole heap of promos and sneak peeks on their website, including the ad that ran during the Super Bowl:

And this teaser:
