Even if you’re not a Hobbit, flight safety is important.

Air New Zealand, the official airline of Middle-earth, has produced a new safety video with lots of familiar faces. It was posted by eonline.com Wednesday.

While the safety rules are those you would hear on any flight, they are demonstrated by hobbits, elves, orcs, wizards and others, according to the website.

And the video includes cameos by Gollum, Dean O'Gorman (aka Fili the Dwarf), and J.R.R. Tolkien's great-grandsons Mike and Royd Tolkien and even Peter Jackson, who celebrates his birthday today.

Jackson is the director of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" set to debut in theaters Dec. 14.

In the video, a female attendant "imparts a story of safety."

The unusual passengers are advised to do things like "Keep a sharp eye on the briefing," "sit yourself down and fasten your seat belt quick smart. Be sure that it is snug across your hips but not so as to lose the feeling in your legs," "power off those iPads and other electronic devices" for takeoff and landing and pay attention to lights along the center aisle path should you need them.

"And if there are young ones around you,” put the oxygen mask on them first and "note where the nearest exit is so cast your eyes about."

Lastly, the captain advises "May the road rise up to meet you. May your beard grow ever longer. May the sun shine warm upon you and… fly you fools."

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
