This blog was inspired by some of our early morning commenters on the weather forecast story .

Several spots around Oklahoma made some headway in breaking the drought cycle, but it was far from enough to make a big difference.
I was in southern Kansas this weekend, and I can report that yes, it did rain. Quite a lot. My tent was only a little damp inside, but it was a muddy mess everywhere else.

Here are some
rainfall totals, including the 7-day winners, all over 3 inches!
- Tulsa International Airport: 1.1 inches
- Jones Jr. Riverside Airport: 1.21 inches
- Oilton: 3 inches
- Miami: 3.11
- Grandfield: 3.14
- Sitgler: 3.38

A wide swath of east Texas received at least an inch of rain, with some places getting upwards of three inches. Rain fell in the area of the devastating wildfires of the previous weeks. So, there are definitely some happy Texans right now.
Back in Tulsa, the next chance of rain will come Wednesday. Other than that, it will be a sunny and beautiful last official week of summer, with highs in the low 80s. Autumnal equinox is Friday. We’re almost there, folks!
