Just Between Friends has a lot of what any parent needs for this school year.

"There's nothing to do in Tulsa" is something you don't hear much anymore.

Any day of the week you can find tons of fun things going on in and around the city. And, you can find most of those things – from festivals and restaurants to sports and story times – through the Tulsa World.

So where to begin?

Let's start here. On Monday, look for our Weekly Planner, a guide to the events you won't want to miss for the coming week.

Here are the happenings everyone is going to be talking about this week:

Monday

Just Between Friends
JBF kicked off its fall sale on Sunday with some shoppers literally camped outside the Exchange Center at Expo Square to be first in line.
If you missed Sunday's sale, no worries. And if you're a low-key shopper, Monday's a great day to shop the deals at this consignment sale of maternity, baby and children's clothing, plus toys and more.

Where: Exchange Center at Expo Square, 21st Street and Yale Avenue
Cost: Free to enter

Tuesday

Book Smart Tulsa
This one's going to be sweet. Picture a dusting of powdered sugar in the air as Tulsa foodies gather to meet the woman who beat Bobby Flay in a sticky bun challenge. She's Joanne Chang, pastry chef and owner of Flour Bakery and Café in Boston. Chang will give a cooking demo and book talk for "Flour."
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Congregation B'nai Emunah, 1719 S. Owasso Ave.
Cost: Free

Wednesday

Steve Martin
OK, we'll tell you up front, this one is sold out. So if you have a ticket, you likely have a few envious friends hoping you'll drop out so they can go in your place.
Steve Martin is bringing his show – an eclectic mix of comedy and bluegrass music – to the PAC.
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Chapman Music Hall, Tulsa PAC, 101 E. Third St.
Cost: Sold out.

Thursday

Summer's Fifth Night
It's the last Summer's Fifth Night of the year, so even though it's going to be boiling hot, expect a huge crowd.
Grady Nicols will play this outdoor concert where couples on date nights, families with babies and singles with their dogs all happily share space in folding chairs and on picnic blankets.
When: 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Utica Square
Cost: Free

Friday

Anne V. Zarrow Award ceremony
Here's a great opportunity for your kids to meet a favorite author in person.
Bring your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews to meet Kathryn Lasky as she receives the Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers' Literature.
Lasky is best known for her Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. She will talk about her books and how she came to be a children's book author, as well as answer audience questions and sign books.

Saturday

Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-Off
Eat a steak and raise money for charity – not a bad deal for $20.
The Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-Off works like this. Dozens of teams will be vying for first place in this steak cook-off. But you, the public, will reap the rewards. Buy a ticket, pick up your side dishes (potato, salad and roll), then get in line at any of the booths to try a steak grilled by Tulsa cooks.
When: Serving lines open at 5:30 p.m.
Where: Sixth Street and Detroit Avenue
Cost: $20

I like your blog-Tulsa To Do. If we know of some event, should we let you know? Is this Tulsa only or Tulsa Metro?

Sure glad you are able to keep in touch through your blog. What would the World do without you?!
Great to see your blog! Can't wait to go to some of these events.
JettBlack: Yes, please let me know of any events. This blog will cover Tulsa, the Tulsa metro and beyond, if it's worth the drive.
