Prepare for spring gardening with the Tulsa Garden Center's Gardening Fair on Saturday.
Many of us will be out this week, celebrating Valentine's Day either Tuesday or by the weekend. Here are some ideas for how to spend the week ahead.
Monday: Get Motivated
With tickets at just about $2, it's a bargain to hear speakers including Laura Bush, Colin Powell, Rudy Guilliani, Terry Bradshaw and Lou Holtz at the Get Motivated Business Seminar. Presentations will run throughout the day in this seminar designed to bring you a fresh perspective and, as the title says, get you motivated. Some tickets should be available the day of the event. Go to
tulsaworld.com/getmotivated
for more info.
When:
8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Where:
BOK Center, Second Street and Denver Avenue
Cost:
$1.95
Tuesday: Dance at the Depot
Remember Valentine's Day dances? I was in the fourth grade when I went to my first one. My mom bought me white tights with red hearts, which I wore with a denim dress and red shoes. I didn't actually dance that night, but I'm sure I drank some punch and ate some cookies. If you want to relive those memories, or make some new ones, go to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame's Valentine's Day dance. I can almost guarantee it will be more fun than the traditional Valentine's Day night out. Cindy Cain, Rebecca Ungerman and Pam Van Dyke Crosby will be backed up by a hot four-piece band. The dance hall will have a 1950s throwback feel, with a wooden dance floor and tunes to get you swinging and two-stepping.
When:
Doors open at 7 p.m. Dance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Where:
111 E. First St.
Cost:
$10
Wednesday: "The Tempest"
This Playhouse Tulsa production of the "The Tempest" is a good option for those who couldn't make it out on Valentine's Day.
When:
7:30 p.m. Wednesday then 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 2 p.m. Feb. 19
Where:
Tulsa PAC, Second Street and Cincinnati Avenue
Cost:
$25.

When:
5 to 9 p.m.
Where:
Philbrook, 2727 S. Rockford Road

If you're into antiques and collectibles, check out the Vintage Tulsa Show where you'll find art deco, pottery, glassware, Southwestern pieces and more from dealers from across the country.
