Stop for a drink or dinner at Edward Delk's downtown.
Have a Prague mocha, made with chocolate, espresso and steamed milk, at Shades of Brown.
Check out the Woody Guthrie exhibit at Gilcrease Museum.
The weekend is here, and it's time to do something out of your weekday routine.
Here are some ideas to kick start your weekend.
On Friday night, do something different. Go for dinner or happy hour at Edward Delk's in the Philtower. This sleek bar and modern restaurant is a great place to go for a drink or to share a short rib flatbread pizza.
Edward Delk's, 427 S. Boston Ave., 918-770-4388
Have your Saturday morning coffee somewhere new for a change. Shades of Brown in Brookside is a nice spot for coffee, lattes and one of the coffee shop's signature drinks, a Prague mocha made with fine chocolate, espresso and steamed milk.
Shades of Brown, 3302 S. Peoria Ave., 918-747-3000
Dinner and a movie: It's a classic combination. But Saturday night, do it somewhere different. Have dinner at Chuy's, the new Austin-based Mexican restaurant. Fresh salsa, blue corn enchiladas and fish tacos are all great. The restaurant sits in front of the Cinemark theater, so after dinner head there to see Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 3D.
Chuy's, 10808 E. 71st St., 918-252-0405
Cinemark, 10802 E. 71st St.
After a sleepy Sunday morning, check out Woody at 100, the new exhibit celebrating the life of Woody Guthrie, at Gilcrease Museum. For a fun Sunday out, come first for brunch, where the Rendezvous Restaurant is open from 11 am. to 3 p.m., then stay for the exhibit and to browse the museum's permanent collection. The Woody Guthrie exhibit includes writings, artwork, photographs and mementos honoring Guthrie, who was born in Okemah.
Gilcrease Museum, 1400 N.Gilcrease Museum Road, 918-596-2700
