What's your favorite comfort food?

My entire day's worth of Weight Watchers points for one more plate of this. Sigh ...
Once upon a time, back when Nelson's Buffeteria was still downtown, I looked forward to my weekly visit -- sometimes twice -- for shouts of "Hello, chicken-fried!" and a side of mac and cheese.
Since I was a kid, I've loved macaroni and cheese, be it my mom's or Mamaw Wright's cheesey, soupier version or Mamaw Walter's baked one, with bubbling cheese on top. Weight Watchers or not, I could devour a bowl of any of 'em, any time you set it in front of me (hint, hint).
Of all the foods I love, mac and cheese tends to rank No. 1 on my list of comfort foods, followed by baked potatoes with nothing but butter and a little salt. Simple, simple, simple, just like Rue McClanahan told me I was in our first and final phone interview.
To me, comfort food has almost always been synonymous with "home-cooked," from Mom's spaghetti, Mamaw Wright's Swiss steak and Mamaw Walters' roast -- and the gravy and homemade mashed potatoes that always went with it. Oh, and the garden-fresh green beans with bacon grease, Mmm ...
Sorry, I'm back from my bacon-greased fantasy world. As I mentioned in Thursday's story on healthy versions of fall comfort foods, I wanted to know
your
favorite comfort foods. So what are they? And, if it's something you make, would you part with the recipe?
Peace, love and chicken-fried salutations ... XOXO

My mom's hot open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. It's the best.

It would have to be my grandmothers mashed potato tacos. Think mashed potatoes and cheese all fried in a tortilla. SUPER HEALTHY ;) Sooo good!

Taco casserole. It's basically a casserole version of seven-layer dip. Will even share the recipe.
1. Dice one-quarter of an onion. Brown with one pound of ground beef or ground turkey.
2. Add one cup chunky salsa to the meat and onion.
3. Cover bottom of casserole dish with crushed tortilla chips.
4. Spread meat mixture over chips.
5. Cover meat mixture with 3/4 cup sour cream.
6. Top with diced tomato and shredded cheese.
7. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is melted and bubbly (about 10 minutes). Garnish with guacamole (optional) and serve.
My dad's goulash comes in a close second...

Pizza is the easiest comfort food.
However, Turkey, Dressing and mashed potatos smothered in turkey gravy...with green bean casserole, induces the best comfort coma.

My homemade apple pie. It is so good, my ex-husband wanted visitation rights for it.

My favorite comfort food is mashed potatoes, french fries, baked potato, potato skins, hash browns, curly fries, fried potatoes and okra, potato soup, potato salad, tater tots... there seems to be a recurring theme.

A baked potatoe with all the toppings. Hard for me to pass up.
Cheese is a must. All kinds. If there isn't cheese in the house there isn't food in the house. Love cheese.

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
