Whitney Houston's funeral will be a private, invitation only event in New Jersey.
The service will be held Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church in Newark where the Grammy-winning artist first sang with her mother Cissy Houston and cousin Dionne Warwick, according to TMZ.com. The church can hold approximately 300 people.
The site also reported that the family of the legendary singer has asked Newark City Mayor Cory Booker to cancel any plans for a public memorial service Friday at the Prudential Center. The mayor's office confirmed "The Houston family has no plans to set up a public viewing."
A representative of the office told tmz.com "the family specifically asked the city not to plan a memorial event" - adding, "In compliance with the family's wishes the city is not moving forward with any public ceremony."
The singer was found unconscious and unresponsive in her hotel room bathtub Saturday and was declared dead hours before a pre-Grammy gala she was planning to attend.
