Where do we live now, Montana? Enough with the snow already!

OK, so I'm waiting for my muse to hit me -- right upside the head might help -- so I can write my Tuesday column about the Super Bowl. That's right, my editors want ME to write about football. I can hear the ringing of incoming hangup calls from homophobes as we speak ...

Whatever, it's Monday (ugh), I have a job (yay), I'm doing what I love (typing) and, best of all, THE SAINTS WON!!! But more on that in tomorrow's paper, don't wanna steal my thunder.

It's been quite a few days since my last confession -- hectic Thursday and Friday. Excuses aside, I've missed this little online soul purge. I have not, however, missed it so much that I'm going to tell EVERYTHING I ate. Basically, it was eggs and/or oatmeal every morning; chicken with rice or on a salad for lunch; and chicken or turkey with a veggie at night, with two or three servings of fruit scattered here and there, along with the occasional handful of almonds.

The closest I came to cheating was last Thursday and -- quel surprise -- last night at a Super Bowl shindig. As Thursday is my weekly get-together with E and Lord V, I typically consider that my splurge night. E brought turkey, green beans and some other stuff from Rib Crib, but I only ate the turkey and green beans. And 1/4 a bag of tortilla chips. Not too evil, I hope.

Friday through Sunday afternoon was awesome -- ate healthy, worked out, even ran SIX AND A HALF MILES with FGP and Coco this weekend, woohoo! But then came the big bowl party, where I ate about 1/4 a bag of tortilla chips, some salsa, a few pieces of cheese, several Triscuits, several Fritos with this fabulous dill pickle dip and a big bowl of gumbo with rice.

So let's move on, shall we? Oh, and I'm not going to weigh today, which I've been doing each Monday. I'm a bit too obsessive with the scales. Plus, I weighed at the gym last Thursday when two of the John's Saints took my measurements. I am SOOOOO not divulging that. (Remind me to go off on some tirade about American sizes vs. REAL sizes, 'K?)

Gotta go be creative. Wish me luck. And be careful out there in all this white stuff!

Peace, love and sweet, sweet traction ... xoxo

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
