One of the major events of this year's OK Mozart International Festival in Bartlesville is the June 15 world premiere of "Wiley Post," a tone poem by Oklahoma composer Callen Clarke, to be performed by violinist Kyle Dillingham -- another Oklahoman -- along with the Amici New York Orchestra.
Dillingham has posted a teaser about the piece on YouTube, which is here:
Dillingham and Clarke collaborate a couple of years ago on a piece, "The Mary Rose," inspired by the flagship of King Henry VIII's navy. It's world premiere was the subject of an episode of the OETA program "Gallery."
OK Mozart runs June 10-18 in Bartlesville, with four performances being repeated at Rose State College in Midwest City.
The "Wiley Post" Concert, however , is a one-night-only event. In addition to the world premiere, the concert -- led by guest conductor James Bagwell -- will feature actor Joe Sears as narrator for Aaron Copland's "A Lincoln Portrait."
