Will Yoshimi battle her pink robots on Broadway?
If
Des McAnuff has his way, the answer is a likely yes.
McAnuff, director of "
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots," based on the music of Oklahoma City rocker
The Flaming Lips, recently told California's North County Times that the tech-heavy sci-fi romp has a potential to woo new fans and old alike.
The musician recently finished its debut run at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, Calif.
McAnuff, who also directed Broadway musical productions "
Big River," "
The Who's Tommy" and "
Jersey Boys," said Yoshimi has been one of his ambitions since he first worked with the La Jolla Playhouse back in 1983, the North County Times reported.
