Win a copy of "The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook"

You can win this book.

Do you need a recipe for black bean pumpkin soup, straight from Greasy Sae at the Hob?

Fans of "The Hunger Games" books know the food and the character I'm referencing, and now you can make this dish and many others inspired by the novels and the blockbuster movie.

You can win my copy of "The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook" by answering a trivia question. It's an easy one based on one of the key moments in both the first book and the film, so we'll take all the answers we can get and randomly draw a winner.

Question: While Katniss Everdeen practices her archery for the Gamemakers to watch, they are distracted by a buffet table. Katniss gets their attention by shooting an arrow in their direction. The arrow lands in what food item?

Submit your answer on this blog.

A random drawing from the correct answers submitted before 7 p.m. Thursday will decide the winner. The winner will be contacted and told when to pick up their new book later this week.

The book -- which has no tie-in with "The Hunger Games" trilogy or the movie -- contains recipes it says are inspired by "foraging with Katniss, hunting with Gale, baking with Peeta and indulging at the Capitol."

My wife would really like this cookbook, but I'm going to extend the deadline for answers until 7 a.m. Friday.

Come on, people, this is an easy trivia question for anyone who saw the movie. If you didn't, call a friend whose teen saw the movie, and ask them the question!

Hey, free cookbook.

Are you referring to when Katniss shoots an arrow at a pig and it lands in an apple? (I called and asked one of my grand kids.)
We have a winner, congratulations!
I'll be in touch soon to tell you how to pick up your new book (which you can keep or give to the grandkids...).
Thanks for playing.

Thanks!

I asked the grand kids this morning if they saw the movie or read the book and they said read the book. I can remember when the one who told me the answer wouldn't hardly open a book. :) Now loves to read.

They are excited and already asked if they could take it home. :)

I See Movies for Free

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.

Big winner tonight: producer Harvey Weinstein. "The Artist" wins 5 Oscars, "The Iron Lady" goes 2-for-2, even wins best documentary.
