You say you want a social music revolution/Well, here ya go

I love sorting through dirty laundry – mine, specifically.

Last week, I found enough change in the pocket of some jeans to plug my meter all day. Yeah, it's the small things that brighten my soul.

But this week's best discovery wasn't in my bedroom (it never is) but online, as Banshee just introduced me to Last.fm, a music Web site that claims it's "the social music revolution."

Everybody, their mamas and the entire Inuit population probably knows about it already, but I'm newly in love. Here's the fun part: It's fuh-REE!!!

Last.fm rocks like the Rolling Stones, which you can find on there, of course, along with a gabazillion other artists. And it's free! Hey, it begs for reiteration.

Thanks to Last.fm, I've discovered Leona Naess (GOR-geous voice) and awesome singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens. And I can listen to long-time faves, from Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton to Jem, Annie Lennox and Neko Case (who I'm gonna see in September with Shadey, can't wait, more on that later).

So check it out at tulsaworld.com/lastfm.

Peace, love and free audio candy … xoxo

First of all, I must say that I've always enjoyed reading your stuff in the World. Second, I can't believe it took you this long to discover Sufjan Stevens! He is my absolute favorite musician.

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
