Your flannel pj's can wait: Check out Garden Glow Saturday night

Admission is free during Garden Glow, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Philbrook.

When you get home from work on a cold day, it's hard to make yourself get back out at night.

I would say "or maybe it's just me," but I know it's not. I recently heard from a Tulsa World reader who said she loves reading about all that's happening in Tulsa, but she rarely actually gets out for concerts or special events.

I think that's especially true in the winter when it's so tempting to race for the pajama drawer and huddle under a blanket.

Sometimes there are things too cool to miss, events worth the wait for your flannel pajamas.

Saturday is Garden Glow at Philbrook, the night when they'll flip on the lights that cover the museum grounds. Thousands of lights will shine across the water, through the paths to the gazebo.

It's a beautiful way to kick off the holiday season.

Garden Glow is from 5 to 8 p.m., so it's a great event for families, couples or groups of friends. It's not often that admission is free at Philbrook, but it is during the opening night of Garden Glow.

The following Thursdays, excluding Thanksgiving through December 29th, the lights will be on in the garden. However, on those days, the museum will charge admission.

Garden Glow
When: 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday
Where: Philbrook Museum, 2727 S. Rockford Road
Cost: Free on Saturday
Stroll the grounds as Philbrook's gardens are lit up with thousands of lights for the holiday season. Children’s activities will be part of the evening.
