With YOUR help, little ones like Mooshie here can have another chance at being loved and cared for. There are MANY like her -- dogs and cats -- that need help. So please put the Bow Wow Bazaar on your weekend dance card.

Your weekend opportunity to buff that tarnished karma of yours

I know I usually ramble here (and elsewhere, to be honest) about myself, but I need to tell you about a fabulous cause that MUST be on your weekend radar.

In tomorrow's Weekend magazine, you'll read (hopefully) a story about Saturday's fun Bow Wow Bazaar silent-auction fundraiser 10 a.m.-4 p.m. near the food court at Tulsa Promenade. It's a benefit for the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF, of course), which needs our help. More specifically, many, many unloved dogs and cats in our community need our help.

ARF is seeking volunteers to help show animals to potential adopters at adoption events, ARF president Jaynie Ozment told me. They also need foster homes.

“While adopting saves a life, fostering saves many lives,” Jaynie said. ARF is always looking for foster families who are willing to open theirs hearts and homes to an animal in need. In exchange, ARF provides food and medical care for the animal while in the foster home. Sweet deal, huh? They buy all the stuff, and all you need to do is provide the love.

ARF always accept donations of cash, as well as dry dog and cat food, collars, leashes, food bowls, dog and cat toys, dog shampoos and animal treats. So please, pretty please open your hearts and pocketbooks to help these folks and, more importantly, the little critters God gave us charge of.

For more, call ARF, 622-5962. You can also visit tulsaworld.com/arftulsa.

Peace, love and sweet, cuddly karma ... XOXO

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
