Clinique's All About Eyes Serum ($25.50)

Today, kids, we reintroduce "Fresh Product," a name for a semi-regular product blog that ended rather unceremoniously last year because ... Well, I'm not really sure. Laziness was probably a key factor.

But I'm reinvigorated -- energized by spring and its bounty of products, as well as the prospect of losing employment if I don't write more. So here goes:

THE PRODUCT: Clinique All About Eyes Serum

THE JIST: As it says on the roll-on tube, a "de-puffing eye massage."

THE CLAIM: According to the company's Web site, "This instantly cooling rollerball helps massage away bags, refreshes and hydrates puffy eyes on contact. Brightens eye area immediately and over time. Combats dark circles, too. With caffeine, potent antioxidants and soothing botanicals. Oil-free, non-irritating. Ophthalmologist tested."

THE SKINNY: Having used this product at work for two weeks, I can definitely say it's "instantly cooling." Four stars there. But I've yet to see a difference in my dark circles. Puffiness? That decreases the longer I'm awake and the more water I drink. Having used other Clinique eye products before (most notable Repairwear Intensive Eye Cream and, one of my favorite Clinique products EVER, All About Eye), this one kinda pales in comparison. Still, with time, and with daily use (mine's only every OTHER day), you might notice a difference.

You'll find it ($25.50) at your favorite Clinique counter. Check out All About Eyes, though, while you're there ... j.a.w.

P.S.: "Gist" doesn't begin with a J. Good to know before publishing something.

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
