A young man with mother issues and Japanese anime are on the menu as a pair of special events at Circle Cinema in the next few days.

“Hi-Def Hitch” would be the Circle’s newest venture, showing classic Alfred Hitchcock films for the first time in digital cinema, on the first Monday of each month, beginning with “Psycho.”

The shocker from “The Master of Suspense” stars Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, a shower curtain, a staircase and taxidermy in multiple forms. It’s rated R and starts at 7 p.m. Monday at Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis Ave.

A sneak preview: The planned Hitchcock screening for May is “Rear Window.”

Meanwhile, “Tokyo Godfathers” is this Saturday night’s entry in the theater’s recent Saturday night anime showings. It’s scheduled to begin at 8:30 Saturday, is rated PG-13, and is in Japanese with English subtitles. The running time is 1 hour, 32 minutes.
