A mango. Doesn't look nearly as exciting as the photo below of ...

Mango gelato at Mod's, which, despite being fabulous, probably ain't quite as diet-friendly as the Mango Smoothie Surprise.
I love smoothies. I especially love them when they contain vodka. (Just kidding -- I'm a rum drinker.)
Having refused to make New Year's resolutions, as I rarely make them, I've made a New Year's wish list -- something you may have seen if you read my Tuesday column in today's Scene section of the Tulsa World.
Anyway, I start back to the gym -- allegedly -- on Jan. 2. I'm debating between doing a boot camp and starting a couch-to-5K program. Or both, Lord knows it wouldn't hurt.
Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to making smoothies in the morning, as I've finally tired of oatmeal after eating it for three years. I'm sure I'll come back to it -- perhaps after a smoothie incident involving cleaning pureed fruits off the kitchen ceiling.
This one oughta be pretty to clean up after:
a Mango Smoothie Surprise from Prevention.com.
"Avocado lends this refreshing drink a silky smoothness," the Prevention.com people said. I'm inclined to believe them.
Mango Smoothie Surprise1 1/4 cups mango cubes
1/4 cup mashed ripe avocado, MUFA (
I have no idea what that means)
1/2 cup mango juice
1/4 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
6 ice cubes
1. Combine mango, avocado, mango juice, yogurt, lime juice, sugar and ice cubes in a blender. Process until smooth. Pour into a tall glass. Garnish with sliced mango or strawberry, if desired, and serve.
