Oklahoma City is among the 13 cities included in the "Idol Across America" mic tour starting March 1.
The event is a cross-country relay of the 'American Idol" microphone which will travel from New York City to the Los Angeles stage where the reality singing competition is produced.
Host Ryan Seacrest will launch the two-week, 5,000-mile trek March 1 in New York City and the "mic" will arrive in time for the Top 10 live performance show at 7 p.m. March 13 on Fox, channel 23, cable 5.
The journey continues: March 2 in Boston; March 3 in Philadelphia; March 4 in Washington, D.C.; March 5 in Atlanta; March 6 in Nashville; March 7 in Detroit; March 8 in Chicago; March 9 in Oklahoma City; March 10 in Dallas/Ft. Worth; March 11 in Phoenix and March 12 in Las Vegas.
Along the way, local "Idols" – fans, inspirational heroes, local officials and former "Idols" – will walk, run, bike, row, drive, skateboard, line-dance, roller-skate, skip, scooter and fly the “mic,” among other means of travel, from state to state with their friends and family cheering them along the way, according to Fox.
One lucky relay team member will win tickets to the "Idol" season finale.
Beginning Tuesday, fans interested in joining the Relay Team can go online at tulsaworld.com/amidolmic. Also on the "AI" site, fans can follow the "mic" and the relay team in real time via an interactive map. Videos, photos and updates will be available on the website and on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
