Adele will perform at the Grammys on Sunday.
Who doesn't love Adele?
Apparently the fashion industry. It's the only place in the world where the chart-topping singer is not so popular.
Just ahead of the singer's big Grammy performance Sunday -- she hasn't performed since vocal chord surgery last year -- there's been a big fashion faux pas.
This one is from Chanel's odd-looking mastermind, Karl Lagerfeld.
In an article for
The Metro newspaper, he said: "The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."
Oh no he didn't!
Why, oh why would you say that? Oh, that's right. You're immersed in the fairy land of the fashion industy. Will it ever change? I guess not.
At least Lagerfeld -- or his people -- realized the blunder and he gave a quick apology, saying his comments were "taken out of context."
To his credit, he told the
newspaper: "I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean you to you in regards to your appearance. Adele is a beautiful girl. She is the best. And I can't wait for her next CD."
I believe I'm with the majority on this one -- not only is it ridiculous to call Adele "fat," but isn't it refreshing to have a pop idol with a normal body shape?
The 23-year-old told
People magazine this about her body image: "I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."
Not everybody can pull off a meat dress, after all. Nor should they.
Who else is excited to watch Adele perform live at the Grammys on Sunday? What other performances are you anticipating?
