Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain jumps ship from the Travel Channel to CNN this fall.

The author and TV personality, best known for his series "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" on Travel and his willingness to travel anywhere for good food – even into war zones – will have his own show on the cable news network’s 2013 lineup.

In the new series he will be "Examining the world through the prism of Tony's unique expertise and passions continues CNN's long-standing commitment to international reporting and to promoting global understanding," said Mark Whitaker, worldwide executive vice president and managing editor of the cable network.

The show for CNN will be produced by Zero Point Production, the same studio that produced Travel's "No Reservations."

Bourdain's deal with the network also calls for him to appear as a contributor on other CNN shows after his show launches early next year but no word which shows.

"I'm really looking forward to coming over to CNN," said Bourdain, according to thewrap.com. "I think the world is going to get a whole lot bigger for me. I hope that old fans and new ones will be excited about what’s coming down the road."

The new series, which will encore on Saturday nights on cable 41, is being produced to help CNN broaden its viewership base. Earlier in May, it posted its lowest-rated week in primetime in its 20-year history.
