During the winter, it was projected that Delta Cleary Jr. could be the Double-A Tulsa Drillers' center fielder this season after spending 2011 in high Single-A Modesto.
Cleary, an excellent fielder, however, went in the other direction to low Single-A Asheville, where he is batting .325. Cleary has a good chance to eventually play for the Drillers, perhaps next year.
Cleary also will go down as the answer to a trivia question as the batter who got the first hit that Owasso's Dylan Bundy allowed in his pro career.
Bundy, in his fifth pro start, had his hitless streak end at 13 innings as Cleary led off Monday's game with a single. He also walked in the fourth inning. Bundy, however, did not allow any other baserunners and faced the minimum 12 batters through four innings before being lifted as scheduled, after just 45 pitches.
Bundy, the fourth overall pick in last year's draft by Baltimore, has retired 49 of the 52 batters he has faced in 17 innings for low Single-A Delmarva, with 25 strikeouts.
