Owasso graduate Dylan Bundy won his Double-A debut on Tuesday night.
Bundy pitched 5 1/3 innings to lead Bowie past Erie 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader at Bowie, Md. He allowed five hits, three runs (two earned), three walks and struck out three. Bundy threw 96 pitches, including 56 strikes.
Bundy, the fourth overall draft choice by Baltimore in 2011, has an 8-3 record and 2.01 ERA in 20 starts at three levels this season. He has walked 22 and struck out 106 in 89 2/3 innings. Batters are only hitting .186 against Bundy.
There has been much speculation in Baltimore that Bundy will be called up by the Orioles in September if he is successful in his three remaining scheduled Double-A starts...
San Francisco placed former Broken Arrow pitcher Brad Penny on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder impingement. Penny was 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in 15 appearances for the Giants, but his ERA was inflated by a poor outing on Monday when he was charged with six earned runs in two innings.
Overall. Penny had pitched respectably until that game and had not allowed an earned run in four of his five previous appearances...
Former Tulsa Drillers reliever Will Harris made his major league debut for the Colorado Rockies on Monday. Harris gave up a three-run homer to Milwaukee's Rickie Weeks with two outs in the ninth inning, but bounced back to end the game with a strikeout and close out Colorado's 9-6 win. That was Harris' lone inning of work in his debut. Weeks' homer was preceded by a potential double-play grounder that was played conservatively and the Rockies settled for just one out.
