After suffering a loss due to a late blown lead for the first time this season a day earlier, the Tulsa Drillers bounced back with an 8-7 comeback win at Arkansas on Wednesday.

Tulsa improved to 19-7 and a promising sign was its offensive outburst. The Drillers scored their most runs in a game since April 13. Tulsa has been winning a lot of games due to pitching and defense, and by making the most out of a few hits.

Backup catcher Jose Gonzalez and Josh Rutledge were heroes Wednesday as they each had a RBI double in the eighth inning as Tulsa snapped a 6-6 tie.

Will Harris converted his first save chance by getting a game-ending double-play grounder to escape a two-on, one-out threat in the ninth. It was his first save since 2008 for Modesto.

Coty Woods (2-0) pitched a scoreless inning to gain the win and has not allowed a run in 12 innings this season...

Owasso's Austin Kirk turned in his fifth straight stellar start for Single-A Daytona (Cubs) on Tuesday, but again suffered a lack of run support and received a no-decision. Kirk is 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA...

In the majors, Oklahoma City-born and former St. Louis Cardinals postseason hero Jeff Suppan, 37, won his first game in his first appearance since Oct. 3, 2010, as he hurled five shutout innings for San Diego in a 5-0 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday...

Former Drillers pitcher Jhoulys Chacin, who appeared ready for potential stardom to open the season, was sent down to Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies after another poor start Tuesday. He is 0-3 with a 7.30 ERA.

Going in the other direction with the Rockies is former Drillers pitcher Drew Pomeranz, who came back from leaving his previous start with some forearm stiffness and allowed only one run in 6 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Dodgers. The bullpen blew his win although the Rockies eventually won 8-5. Former Drillers catcher Wilin Rosario hit his second homer of the season...

An unusual stat: Pittsburgh has 10 wins this season by 10 different pitchers.
