Former Tulsa Drillers relievers Ryan Mattheus and Al Alburquerque were the winning pitchers in division series games Sunday.

Mattheus, who was with Tulsa in 2007-09, needed only two pitches to escape a bases-loaded jam in the seventh, to help Washington edge St. Louis 3-2.

Alburquerque, who was with the Drillers in 2009-10, retired the final batter in the top of the ninth inning and got the win when Detroit scored in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 victory over Oakland....

Jim Tracy's resignation as Colorado's manager on Sunday was not a bad development for the Rockies. Despite Tracy's qualities as a manager, the team had trended down the past three years, crashing at 64-98 this year, and a fresh start is needed.

Former Drillers managers Tom Runnells and Stu Cole could be among the leading candidates to replace Tracy, who guided Colorado to the playoffs in 2009 and was named manager of the year...

Former Drillers catcher Chris Iannetta received a three-year, $15-million contract extension from the Angels. Iannetta, who was sidelined 2 1/2 months with a broken wrist, batted .240 with nine homers and 26 RBIs this year. The deal may not garner any headlines on a team with marquee players and a huge payroll, but this was an important signing. He is an excellent defensive catcher and has a knack for coming up with big hits.
