Space was apparently at quite the premium this week in the Spot, so the notices about the art shows opening this weekend ended up on the cutting room floor. Or dispersed randomly through the ether. Or something.
Here's what's happening:
-- Living Arts of Tulsa, 308 S. Kenosha Ave., will have a show simply titled “Erotica” on display through June 6. It features works by several Oklahoma artists, including Patrick Cunningham, Shane Scribner, Scott Hale, Joni Herzog, Lance Hunter, and Sylvia Nitti, who deal with themes of sexuality and eroticism.
-- E. Scott Hurst took a 10-year hiatus from painting until the summer of 2008, when he started creating a new series of abstract works. These will go on display June 5 at the Tulsa Artists’ Coalition Gallery, 9 E. Brady St. The show runs through June 27.
-- The regular Brady District First Friday Art Crawl, during which the galleries and businesses along Brady Street open their doors for an evening of art, food and community. This month's event will feature the debut of an installation by Grace Grothaus titled "McWilderness," that will be on display in the Mathews Warehouse, 100 E. Brady St. The Mathews Warehouse is the future location of the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa's Visual Arts Center,
-- Sapulpa’s new Water Street Gallery is hosting a benefit art show and sale titled “The Six by Six on Route 66 Art Show,” which features more than 100 small works of wonder by many of Northeastern Oklahoma’s well known artists. A portion of sales will go to Community Care of Sapulpa’s food bank. The show is on display through June 20.
