A special online pre-sale for the touring production of the musical “Avenue Q” will be Tuesday and Wednesday, with a portion of the ticket sales during these two days going to Tulsa Cares.
“Avenue Q,” the Tony Award-winning musical that combines live actors and puppets to tell a decidedly grown-up story about making one’s way in the big, bad city, will be at the Tulsa PAC April 1-2.
To take advantage of the pre-sale, log on to tulsaworld.com/avenueq, then enter the word “LUCY” in the Coupon Code box. Five dollars from each ticket purchased will go to Tulsa Cares, which provides services to people affected by AIDS and HIV.
“Avenue Q” won three Tony Awards in 2004, including an upset win over “Wicked” for the Best Musical. Best Book and Best Score. The musical was described by the New York Times as “a breakthrough musical of a very different stripe — savvy, sassy and delicious.” Entertainment Weekly called it, “One of the funniest shows you’re ever likely to see.”
While the puppet characters of “Avenue Q” may call to mind similar characters from “The Muppets” or “Sesame Street,” audiences should be advised that “Avenue Q” contains adult language and content, including nudity (of the puppets, but nudity nonetheless).
