Booker T. Washington senior safety Dominique Alexander committed on Tuesday to play football at the University of Arkansas.

Alexander, who also plays wide receiver, will be a three-year starter for the Hornets and helped them win the Class 5A state title in 2010. He was offered a scholarship by the Razorbacks last week.

“I’m very excited to be able to play big-time football at a college I’ve wanted to go to since my freshman year,” Alexander said. “I’m glad to get the decision over. It will make my senior year less stressful. I didn’t want it to go to the end like it did with my brother Derrick.”

Derrick Alexander, who was the Tulsa World’s state player of the year as a senior in 2010, is a defensive lineman for the University of Tulsa, which did not offer him until shortly before signing day.

Dominique Alexander, who is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, chose Arkansas over Kansas State, Missouri and Houston. At Arkansas, he will join former Booker T. Washington players Eric Bennett and Jared Collins.

“I like the environment there,” he said. “They’ve got an amazing die-hard fan base.”

Verbal commitments are not binding. National Signing Day is Feb. 6, 2013.
