I can't tell you how many hours of my childhood were occupied by playing Barbies -- it explains a lot, including my shopping habit and my shoe collection.

Every time I visit a toy store, I made a trip down memory lane and check out the Barbie aisle. I can't help it, they bring back so many sweet childhood memories of playing with my sister.

But my, how times have changed since I begged my parents for Career Barbie -- we've got a Barbie tattoo situation.

LA-based company Tokidoki has released a limited-edition Barbie doll for $50 with a chic pink bob, leopard leggings, a heart-and-crossbones sweater and hot pink mini.

But some parents are miffed because she also has a tattoo, make that many tattoos-- Manga-style cartoon tats on her shoulder and neck.

Now, I know many girls love tattoos. I haven't had a hairstylist without some significant body art in the last seven years, but is this too much?

I remember when the big controversy about Barbie was her ridiculously unattainable physique, and I have friends whose parents wouldn't let them play with her for various reasons. Thank goodness, that wasn't the case at my house.

I don't think I was scarred for life by playing Barbies, and I don't recall trying to emulate her outfits. But I'm not a parent of young girls. Do you think little girls will run out to get sleeve tattoos for their 10th birthdays because of Barbie?

What do you think -- is she a funky collector's item, or a bad influence?
