Cheer up, OSU fans. You get to host the game again, even if your weather forecast is dreary! In this 2010 file photo OSU fans react to OU's final scoring field goal against OSU in Stillwater. MICHAEL WYKE/Tulsa World File
Today's football forecast blog is inspired by Guns N' Roses:
OU and OSU fans are probably more accustomed to their Bedlam football game being in November, and up till a scheduling change, it was supposed to be this year, also.
But regardless, you Sooners and Cowboys are going to get rained on. The National Weather Service makes that very clear. For Saturday in Stillwater, "Chance of precipitation is 100 percent." I'm quoting that verbatim.
If you decide to head to Stillwater a day early, you are likely looking at rain tonight also, with a 60-percent chance of precipitation. Cloudy skies are expected to bring temperatures to the lower 40s, so bring a heavy waterproof jacket. With 10 to 13 mph winds, the umbrella might just get blown away.
The chance of rain falls for Saturday night, however, so you might be looking at a dry 7 p.m. kickoff. Might. The chance of precipitation is still 40 percent.
Still have that heavy waterproof jacket from Friday night? Good, because the temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees Saturday night in Stillwater.
If you are the type of fan who needs to sit every once in awhile during the game, a blanket or two might also be nice if you don't like sitting on a wet metal bleacher in freezing weather.
No doubt you're wondering if the original scheduled date of the game would have been any better than what is forecast for Stillwater this Saturday. So, here's what happened Nov. 26: 0.29 of an inch of rain, a low of 39 degrees and an average wind speed of 16.7 mph. So, perhaps not much better.
I admire you if you brave the weather and trek to Boone Pickens Stadium. I have endured cold, rainy games in the past and they are not fun, even if your team wins. I recommend running in place, jumping a lot and wearing fleece gloves. Fleece anything, really.
