Comedian Bill Maher challenged "Celebrity Apprentice" host and New York business mogul Donald Trump on Monday’s "Tonight Show" and Trump wants Maher to pay up.

The comedian jokingly offered up $5 million as a prize for his "birther" demand, according to news.yahoo.com.

On the latenight talk show, Maher, host of HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher," joked "… the color of his hair (Trump's) and the color of an orange orangutan is (the) only two things in nature of the same color."

Maher was reportedly parodying Trump's much-ridiculed "birther" demand on President Barak Obama and the real estate mogul's offer of a $5 million charitable donation back in October if the president would release his college records, reported the website.

Maher joked if Trump could prove he was not the son of a monkey, he would make the same donation to Trump for the charity of his choice – The Hair Club for Men, the "Institute for Incorrigible D*****baggery," according to the story.

Now Trump is insisting the comedian put the money where his mouth is, so to speak.

On Tuesday, Trump's attorney on Tuesday sent Maher a letter.

"Attached hereto is a copy of Mr. Trump's birth certificate, demonstrating that he is the son of Fred Trump, not an orangutan. Please remit the $5 million to Mr. Trump immediately and he will ensure that the money be donated to the following five charities in equal amounts: Hurricane Sandy Victims, The Police Athletic League, The American Cancer Society, The March of Dimes, and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute."

Maher's representative has not responded to a request for comment, according to the website.

Maher's HBO show airs at 9 p.m. Fridays on cable 300. "Celebrity Apprentice" is back for a new season March 3 on NBC.
