Blake Shelton may hate being on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" but he sure acts like he's having fun.
Oklahoma's country music star and musician coach on NBC's "The Voice" stopped by Monday to talk about his Christmas album. An album he said he has wanted to make for years.
"I'm one of those freaks of nature that listens to Christmas music all year long. I listen to Anne Murray."
Fallon said his favorite Christmas music is Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas" which he had to explain to Shelton who insisted he was thinking "I am stuck on Bandaids 'cause bandaids stick on me."
Along with other celebrity singers like Oklahoma's Reba McEntire, Shelton's mother, Dorothy Shackleford, also sings on the Christmas album, a fact that drew oohs from the audience and applause.
"We actually wrote that song together for the album song about going back home to be with your family. I told her I wanted her to sing to with me on the album. And she was like, 'I don't like how country I sound when I sing …. She's actually a pretty good singer.
"I would hit my button for her."
On "The Voice," which premiered its second season Monday, the "button" is what the musician coaches use on to indicate they like singers they are hearing during the blind auditions.
Just for fun, Shelton's appearance also included a cooler scooter race with beer helmets in place complete with scooter-cam. Shelton, of course, has his own set of rules for the race.
Anyone but me notice how the longer Fallon talks the more Oklahoman he sounds?
